Rajpakshe ko Salaam!

Finally, the tryst of Sri Lanka with peace has been destined. The person who is to be credited for this landmark victory in the history of terror-affected world is Mr. Mahinda Rajpakshe.
It is unfortunate to see that the world outside this island country has not reacted positively to this feat of Sri Lankan Government.
Sri Lanka has been the first target of organised terrorist activities in post-world war scenario. In the name of language and creed, Sri Lanka witnessed the most brutal fights of mankind in modern world. Car bombs and human bombs became the day to day affair in Sri Lanka. Boys and girls in their teens were forced to handle guns and blow themselves for sheer fight of hatred. God only knows what is the actual tally of deaths in Sri Lanka due to terror attacks.
India has the privilege to send the first message of peace to Sri Lanka through none other but, the prince Mahendra (son of King Ashoka the Great), who is locally known as Mihinda or Mahinda, incidentally the present President of Sri Lanka is also knwon with the same name and history will give him the credit of restoring peace in his mother land.
I am of the opinion that every country has the right and more of a duty to combat terrorism by any means to ensure peaceful life to the common public. Half hearted efforts to 'control' terrorism will not help any country. Sri Lanka has shown the world the actual way of treating menace of terrorism.
Common people have definitely suffered during this war on terror, but they had not any better life in terrorist controlled arena. This action of Sri Lankan Government will also send a message to the common public that by not raising voice against the terrosists and terrorist activities in your vicinity, you are going against the state. Here some politicians of Tamilnadu also did not do good to the common Tamil people by prasing and extending moral support to the terrorist leaders and organizations of Sri Lanka. Common Tamil people of Sri Lanka has been misled and they were made sufferers in this course of combing of terrorists.
It is also unfortunate to see that 'brave' and 'pro-active' warriors like USA and its allies have kept mum over this great achievement of Sri Lanka. Now it is the turn of India and Pakistan to take appropriate action against all the terrorist outfits operating in different parts of our country. World knows that the terrorist organizations operating in Sri Lnaka were the most advanced and had good source funding, but with political will and focussed approach, they were eliminated by Sri Lankan forces. Why cannot we eliminate terrorist outfits from our land? We all know that even in our political system moral considerations have been there for such terrorist outfits, but common people have suffered and no one has gained, except the supporters of such activities. Let us build pressure on our system to beat the drum of war against terror.
We know that Sri Lanka has a big task of rehabilitating the sufferes of war and to cope up with the fiscal imbalances due to war. But in the new era of peace, I am quite hopeful that Sri Lanka will raise to the glory with its powerful human resources.
May Lord Buddha bring peace and glory back to this wonderful country..the own country of Buddha!
People may or may not agree with my views.....UNO, USA etc. may or may not acknoledge the feat of Mahinda Rajpakshe, but..my salute to this braveheart.
Rajpakshe ko Salaam!

Wo Subah Kabhi to Aayegi

New Government is there to come, but I dont see any aspiration of aam aadmi from new Government. In five years of ceremonial sittings of Parliament, what we see is all personalized issues in the name of aam aadmi. Next five years (if it could see the full length of its life), there will be no change in the character of our elected democratic setup. In our electoral politics there is no issue of development. I believe development has lost its connotation in its Indian perspective. If only 10% of allocated fund is actually spent on the schemes and projects of Union Government, who is going to own up the responsibility of pocketing 90% of exchequers' money? This issue is more serious than Godhra, Ayodhya, Atomic Energy pact etc. etc....but who will blame whom..all share the booty shamelessly.
If I am given an opportunity to be heard by the Government, I have only two expectations from the Government in social sector in next five years:
  1. Let each and every child of this country have education of same standard (be it curriculum or be it infrastructure). For poor people different set of schools and for rich five star luxury schools..This discrimination must go..it is criminal. Market can decide all other thing, but not the right to equal opportunity. In the new setup rich parents should be charged appropriately and poor parents should be subsidised by the government. If we start this new system, there will be no need of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan type of schemes and also to force policy of Reservation at any stage and in any sector.
  2. Health of every citizen should be given same priority, as it is considered for their security. Health facilities should also be the same for each and every individual. Government should do away with all health schemes and with all this money it should subsidise the services rendered by hospitals to the citizens.

In healthy and educated citizens Government can take pride...every sick or uneducated citizen is a black spot on the face of Indian Democracy. They are not just there to be forced to vote by all means...Discrimination in these two sectors will some day lead to unrest, which will be very difficult to handle.

I know this is very much possible, what we need is to have a will....we have money, we have good policymakers and we do have many good implementers like Kalams, Sreedharans, Narayanmurthys who are eagerly waiting for such responsibilities.
